JJ Voss on tour with Lachlan Veville from Saskatchewan
An intimate show in our studio space. This is an all ages show. Coffee + kombucha available for purchase.
Lachlan MacKay Neville is a singer/songwriter from Rocanville, Saskatchewan a small town on the plains of western Canada. He grew up listening to country and folk music and developed a strong connection to it early on in life. At the age of 8, he started to play guitar and even wrote some terrible songs. Later on in life, after developing an obsession with the likes of Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits and Jason Isbell, he began to (with the support of his local music community) hone his craft as a guitar player and songwriter.
With close to two decades of dedication to his music career and craft, JJ Voss has taken his passion for songwriting and performing, along with his many experiences in life, to build an authentic and professional solo career rooted in the soil of the working class.
To date Voss has released 3 albums and 1 single, garnering a WMCA Producer of the Year nomination for debut EP ‘Hillbilly Storybook’ in 2008, followed up by his ‘Show ‘em Who’s Voss’ album in 2012, landing him a SCMA Roots Album of the Year award and chart action for 5 singles on Canadian Country radio. It’s a Pride Thing’ peaking at #62 on the Billboard Country Top 100 and ‘Playing For Keeps’ at #51. The album also received international airplay leading Voss to his first overseas tour; playing shows in Germany, Ireland, France and the Netherlands, Colombia and Mexico.
Voss's 3rd album, ‘Come Along With Me’, was released on March 20th, 2020 - 9 days after the official announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the cancellation of over 45 tour dates. Determined to see his plan through, he pivoted and presented 20+ online concerts, and 80+ Live concerts (both solo and with his band) in between lock down periods between 2020-2022. The album garnered 6 SCMA awards, Top 10 Mediabase chart success with 3 singles; “Some People”, “Come Along With Me” and “The Kind of Man”. and 150K video views for his re-make of Murray McLaughlan's 'Farmer Song' with Darlene Tuleta and Canadian Hall of Famer Charlie Major.
October 14th 2022 Voss released his poignant single, ‘A Letter to Dad’ - a tribute to the Voss family farm on its 100 year milestone. ‘A Letter To Dad’ is out now on radio and at all major music service providers.
2023 has started strong with JJ’s self penned single ‘A Letter To Dad’ being named Music Video of the year by the Saskatchewan Country Music Association.
Currently Voss is writing songs in preparation for release later this year.
